US Alternatives Director

Eric Nelson is the US Alternatives Director based in New York. Eric joined Schroders in 2004 as an Institutional Sales Director, and became the US Alternatives Director in 2007. Eric’s primary responsibility is to serve as a liaison between the alternative portfolio management teams and North American investors. He is responsible for the development of Schroders’ US alternatives business which includes commodities, emerging market debt absolute return, hedge funds, and insurance-linked securities.

Prior to Schroders, Eric was the Director of Fixed Income Marketing and Client Services at Mercury Asset Management International, joining in 1990. Eric remained there until 1997 when Merrill Lynch purchased Mercury and he became Managing Director of Fixed Income Marketing and Client Services at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

From 1987 to 1990, Eric was the Director of Marketing and Client Services for PCM International. Previously, Eric was the Vice President of Institutional Marketing and Client Services at ABD International and the Assistant Vice President at Daiwa International Capital Management.

Eric’s investment career commenced in 1981 when he joined Butcher & Singer as a Marketing Associate.
